How do I earn the Common Sense Privacy Seal?

Here are the priciples that guide us when awarding the Common Sense Privacy Seal:

  • communicating user profiles creation process

What does Common Sense evaluate in awarding the Seal?

The privacy practices the Customer discloses in the CSP Dashboard must be reflected accurately in its public, published privacy policies and must meet CSP’s benchmarks for its Privacy Seal. Seal program participants are solely responsible ensuring all information about their privacy practices provided in Common Sense Privacy's Dashboard are accurate and up-to-date and consistent with their published privacy policy.

How long is the Seal effective?

Continued use of the seal is subject to continuing to meet CSP’s Seal program requirements.  Seal recipients must notify CSP immediately of substantative changes in privacy practices or privacy policies and CSP will re-evaluate any changes against seal criteria.  CSP conducts reviews on an annual basis at a minimum.

Am I guaranteed a Seal?

Companies may apply to the Seal program for evaluation and review, but Seals are not guaranteed.

How do I receive my seal?

If you qualify and if Common Sense Privacy grants you a license for the Seal, you will be sent a digital version of CSP Seal and granted a right to create a hyperlink Common Sense Privacy’s Seal website that displays products which have earned the Seal. Continued use of the Seal is subject to continuing to meet CSP’s Seal program requirements and subject to Common Sense Privacy’s brand guidelines.
